INDEPENDENCE VILLAGE : PARK COUNTY, JULY 4, 2015
Independence village is our first Eco-village being put together by Heroes Home Colorado. Founded on Independence day the village will be initially comprised of shelter spaces, and convert into homes as applicants are accepted into the program and houses are built.
The village will include an animal barn with separate spaces for chickens and other livestock. We will also have a community garden area, as well as personal gardening space. A community center for holding classes, workshops, and village meetings. The water system will be from private well, as well as rain catchment for irrigation. We will be developing the infrastructure such as driveways, parking access, fencing, landscaping, personal septic systems and personal solar systems for each home site.
Independence village is appropriately named, as it is located in a peaceful and secluded area where great independence skills can be both learned and taught, and are required for survival. While we promote independence and self-sufficiency, the village itself is there in part to foster these skills while providing a back-up if and when things don't go to plan. We are a community first and foremost and support each other as such. Every member of the village is expected to teat each other with love and respect at all times.
Each Hero accepted into the Heroes Home program will be required to submit certain hours of community work, such as security patrol, teaching, or administrative duties in order to continue with the program and participation of Heroes Home Colorado: Independence Village. Please see our Documents page for our Rules and Regulations, as well as our Application for Assistance for more information.
